West Virginia Governor Tomblin has ordered all United States flags and West Virginia State flags lowered to half-staff immediately, Tuesday, January 17, 2012 until sunset on January 27, 2012 in honor of former West Virginia Governor Hulett C. Smith who passed away on January 15, 2012 at age 93. He served as Governor from 1965 until 1969.

   

Iowa Governor Branstad has ordered all flags in Iowa to be flown at half-staff from 5:00pm on Friday, January 27, 2012 until 8:00am Monday, January 30, 2012 in honor of United States Marine Corps Master Sergeant Travis Riddick, formerly of Centerville, Iowa who died on Saturday, January 21, 2012 in a helicopter crash in southern Afghanistan.

Massachusetts Governor Patrick has ordered the United States flag and Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, January 27, 2012 in honor of Specialist Keith D. Benson of Norwood, Massachusetts who died in Afghanistan on January 18, 2012.

 

South Carolina Governor Haley has ordered flags atop the State House be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, January 27, 2012 in honor of Medal of Honor recipient MSG John Franklin Baker, Jr.

 

Arkansas Governor Beebe has ordered the United States flag and Arkansas State flag be flown at half-staff on Friday, January 27, 2012 in honor of United States Army Special Forces Sergeant First Class Benjamin B. Wise, a native of El Dorado who died in Landstuhl, Germany earlier this month from wounds suffered during combat in Afghanistan.

 

Illinois Governor Quinn has ordered the United States flag and Illinois State flag lowered to half-staff from Friday, January 27, 2012 until sunset on Sunday, January 29, 2012 in honor of United States Marine Captain Nathan R. McHone of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

 

Arizona Governor Brewer has ordered all flags at state office buildings lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in honor of United States Marine Corporal Phillip D. McGeath of Glendale, Arizona who died on January 18, 2012 in Helmand province, Afghanistan. All individuals are encouraged to join in this tribute.
